Steve had this great Pony Bench---I fell in love with it the first time I saw it outside the Casita...sittin there in the sun--gettin all weathered and worn. I loved it!! But as soon as I spied it I knew I had to paint it and antique it up... It took a couple of months to get around to it--but every day I passed it to walk in the front door--I swore I was gonna pick the paint and get permission to change it forever!
Steve didn't even care!! He was excited that I was mezmerized by it and was eager to see the transformation. Paint and I have a love affair-- I crave to get all down and messy --up to my elbows in paint---I started with a paint brush--but it was obvious that there were far too many crevices to use anything but spray paint....The only problem is that the color I wanted was not to be found in spray paint. I was lookin for something more aqua/teal and then antique with dark brown....I went through several layers-- one quart and then two different spray colors...I had to be happy with what was available--but I decided to antique with gold and then the dark brown glaze to get a little more green in the aqua....I sanded a little in between and then topped it off with a spray varnish -- See what you think....I love it!
